Nicole Phillips is inspired by nature and the landscapes that surround her in her home county of West Sussex.
Her work is expressive and often impressionist in style, and she uses mixed media, acrylic and screen-printing techniques when creating her work. With a degree in Ceramics and Printmaking from Bath College, Nicole has evolved and developed her technique, more recently concentrating on painting and screen printing.
This exhibition explores Nicole’s emotional response to the landscapes, portraying a sense of a place rather than burdening the viewer with the absolute detail. The resulting impressionist style work represent the feeling of being embraced by the land and at the same time experiencing natures forces such as wind, warmth, and a chill with playful and often intense results. Nicole’s work invites the viewer to join her on this sensory exploration of Sussex.
